Position Summary

The Senior Research Associate, Analytics position is responsible for conducting sample analysis, analytical method development and optimization to support bioprocess development and production of bio-based materials at different stages from R&D to scaleup and commercialization. This cross-functional role is a great opportunity to collaborate with other R&D groups such as strain engineering, enzyme development, downstream processing, and tech transfer to the company's external partners..

Responsibilities

  • Perform basic and complex laboratory experiments, follow protocols and procedures, and generate reproducible analytical and accurate analytical data.
  • Carry on and optimize sample preparation for HPLC and LCMS analysis using automated and manual techniques.
  • Perform LCMS and HPLC analysis, process data, and report the results.
  • Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot analytical instruments, set methods, analyze data, summarize and report results.
  • Present results and ideas in group and project meetings.
  • Assist with training and support of junior and new team members.
  • Maintain chemicals and consumables inventories.
  • Work in accordance with health and safety guidelines and company policies.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • BS or MS in Analytical Chemistry, Chemistry, Biochemistry, or related fields.
  • Master's degree with 3+ years or bachelor's degree with 5+ years of experience in the biotechnology industry.
  • Extensive knowledge of Agilent LCMS and HPLC instruments and software.
  • Experience with GCMS is a plus.
  • Proven experience in method development of analytical separations and quantitative analysis using reversed-phase, HILIC, and ion exchange chromatography and a variety of detection techniques.
  • Experience with microbial bioprocesses and metabolomics is highly desirable.
  • Solid foundation in chemistry and sample preparation techniques.
  • Ability to operate and maintain laboratory equipment.
  • Strong time management skills, multitasking, ability to thrive in fast paced R&D environment under tight timelines, flexibility to changes in priorities and work plans while maintaining efficiency.
  • Must be able to move up to 25 pounds and move around the lab facility between multiple locations.

Full-time opportunities at ZymoChem come with:

  • Competitive salary range of $89,000 to $107,000 per year, depending on experience.
  • Comprehensive benefits package includes company stock options, 401(k) retirement plan (includes a corporate match), medical, dental, and vision healthcare coverage, and life and long-term disability insurance.
  • Additional benefits include FSA, commuter, and supplemental life insurance.
  • Flexible time off policy with 18 days Paid Time Off (PTO) per year and 10 paid company holidays per year.
