Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled RA to join our VC-backed startup working on the development of next-generation mRNA-based therapeutics. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to the foundational science and company culture of an exciting new company in the nucleic acid therapy space.

Our technology uniquely limits mRNA expression to specific cell subtypes or substates. With our novel programmable control elements we unlock new ways of treating diseases by targeting cells as a whole, rather than individual proteins. In this job, you will spearhead the evaluation of new designs and technologies in various in vitro models.

Exact level for the candidate will be determined by level of experience.

Responsibilities

  • Design and construct plasmid vectors for novel gene expression designs using standard cloning techniques.

  • Conduct gene expression studies using RNA extraction, cDNA synthesis, and quantitative PCR techniques.

  • Conduct high throughput gene expression including cloning and prepping plasmid libraries, transfecting/transducing cell lines, nucleic acid extraction and NGS library prep.

  • Perform molecular characterization assays from cells using RNA/DNA extraction, qPCR, ddPCR, and amplicon-seq.

  • Maintain accurate and comprehensive records of experiments.

  • Analyze data, generate reports, and present results to the team.

Preferred Qualifications

  • M.S. or B.S. in Biology, Genetics, Bioengineering, or related field.

  • 2+ years of relevant laboratory experience (academic or industry)

  • Molecular biology experience including DNA/RNA extraction, plasmid preps, common molecular cloning techniques, RT-qPCR.

  • Organized and rigorous in recording methodologies and results.

  • Excellent presentation and writing skills, able to clearly communicate technical information to colleagues.

  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment, with a positive and collaborative attitude.

Pluses

  • Hands-on experience working with mammalian cells, including BSL2 tissue culture, transfection, and common reporter assays.

  • Experience with lentiviral production or IVT/mRNA production is a plus.
