Faeth Therapeutics is a biotech start-up founded in 2019 by an international group of world-leading cancer research scientists. Faeth’s mission is to use a deep mechanistic understanding of cancer metabolism to rethink the treatment of cancer. We have established a laboratory at the CRUK Cambridge Institute (CI) and are looking for a highly motivated research assistant to join our team and conduct in vitro experiments. The role will involve:

  • Working closely with colleagues in a small dynamic research team & within the broader biotech start-up company environment
  • Experimental & technical troubleshooting & problem solving
  • Executing experimental plans and helping to develop new assay methods where required
  • Cell culture for a range of cancer cell lines and performing cell-based experiments such as drug-response assays
  • Assisting with biochemical methods such as protein/RNA isolation and assay development to support drug discovery projects
  • Other standard molecular biology techniques, e.g. recombinant protein expression, CRISPR KO cell line development
  • Maintaining detailed records of experiments and accurately recording methods and results in electronic laboratory notebook in a timely manner
  • Analysis and presentation of experimental data
  • Helping with H&S compliance and record keeping
  • Helping with purchase of reagents and oversight of lab supplies

Required skills / experience:

  • BSc or MSc in a biological science or related discipline
  • Essential: Laboratory experience within biological research environment
  • Desirable: Knowledge & experience of cancer metabolism / cell culture / drug discovery / assay development is an advantage
  • Desirable: Contribution to peer reviewed research publications an advantage
