How You Will Contribute
As Associate Director of Lab and Facilities Operations you will be responsible for leading effective and efficient operations, including strategically stewarding laboratory resources, ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards, and facilitating a highly productive research environment to support Dyno’s R&D goals and projects.
Responsibilities:
- Effectively steward various lab and facilities resources to ensure company goals are achieved efficiently:
- Oversee a vendor-managed inventory (VMI) system for stocked consumables
- Manage the full lab equipment lifecycle (cradle-to-grave), including decision-making, installations, service contracts, preventative maintenance (PM), and corrective repairs. Maintain an accurate asset inventory in the Asset Manager software.
- Oversee Alarm Response process for critical equipment
- Prioritize and triage incoming requests for assistance across various services utilizing appropriate software tools
- Act as the single point of contact and unifying force for the lab community; drive clear cross-functional communication and outcomes as well as attend key alignment meetings to provide the Facility Operations perspective.
- Effectively manage relationships with outsourced service providers and associated contracts.
- Create and implement strategies to optimize operations for cost-efficiency and time-efficiency, aiming to reduce the organization’s time spent on operational tasks while maintaining high-quality output.
- Proactively manage landlord interactions by collaborating on projects, unplanned issue remediation, base building mechanical/electrical/plumbing (MEP) and lab system maintenance, and rent / common area maintenance (CAM) payments.
- Effectively respond to unplanned facilities issues.
- Act as the main point of contact for onsite event coordination.
- Be a trusted cross-functional subject matter expert regarding facilities, equipment, and lab operations across the business (e.g. with Finance, Legal, and R&D).
- Manage an internal FTE and two contract lab support technicians.

Basic qualifications
- BS degree with at least 8 - 10 years of proven expertise in managing facilities and lab operations within a biotech or pharma environment.
- Strong ability to develop and implement strategies for optimizing operations, with a focus on cost-efficiency, time-efficiency, while maintaining compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Proficiency in developing and managing robust systems for the maintenance of shared spaces and equipment to minimize downtime and interruptions to R&D activities.
- Proven experience leading space planning and retrofits.
- High-level understanding of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) utilities
- Exceptional leadership skills with the capacity to foster the development, communication, and training of personnel, enhancing their capabilities, skills, and collaboration.
- Excellent problem-solving skills to address operational challenges, flexibility to adapt to changing business needs, and continuously improve operational processes to achieve the desired outcomes.
- Track record of successfully interfacing with external service providers and contractors, as well as collaborating with internal support teams
- Experience with international and domestic shipping
- Experience with managing flow of incoming requests via a ticketing system
- Previous experience managing contract employees and/or direct reports
Preferred qualifications
- Prior bench experience
- DOT 49 CFR Hazardous Materials Regulations (HMR) certification
- Experience with OfficeSpace Request Manager, asset management software, and/or Thermo Unity Lab Services Inventory Manager software

At Dyno, we believe in transparent and equitable compensation practices.
Base Salary Range: $163,542.61 – $195,596.96/year
This reflects the typical offer range for this role, based on experience, role scope, and internal equity. Final compensation decisions are made using a consistent leveling framework and consider the candidate’s experience, interview performance, and expected impact. Final leveling and compensation will reflect experience and scope, and exceptional candidates may be considered at a higher level.
