PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Checkerspot is looking for a motivated, organized and detail-oriented Lab Operations & Fulfillment Specialist to assist in general laboratory operational tasks, formulation assistance and order fulfillment within the Checkerspot’s Urethane Systems Formulation and Fulfillment Facility. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting daily activities involved in maintaining a functioning lab/manufacturing space, assist in formulating urethane systems for sale, and managing fulfillment of final product. The candidate will work closely with Technology and Business Leads to support operational and manufacturing needs. Duties are expected to be allocated approximately as follows, Lab Operations (40%): Systems Formulation (30%): Systems Fulfillment (30%).

Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing the general upkeep and organization of the lab/formulation and fulfillment space, including:
    • Organization of lab/manufacturing layout
    • Oversite of general cleanliness and operational readiness of the facility from a production perspective.
    • Conduct routine PMCS on laboratory and fulfilment equipment.
    • Inventory management and stocking of lab, systems formulation, and fulfillment consumables.
    • Assist in performing routine in-house assays for QC.
  • Managing chemical waste disposal in coordination with EH&S Officer.
  • Assist with and maintain EH&S procedures, policies, and guidelines for the space.
  • Assist with systems formulation with guidance from materials science lead including:
  • Dispensing product into final containers.
  • Assistance in pre and post prep, cleaning, and maintenance of equipment used in process.
  • Inventory management including procurement, organization, tracking and documentation of raw
    materials, products, and processes.

Fulfillment Tasks:

  • Manage inventory for processes involved in formulated products which include stocking of consumables, chemicals, and packaging materials for this process.
  • Receive, track, and organize incoming delivery of materials and purchases for Chemical
    Formulations Facility.
  • Responsible for all aspects of packaging and shipping the final product in a timely manner which
    include:
    • Shipping and Receiving paperwork and setup. This includes domestic, international and
      LTL shipments.
    • Updates to external and internal stakeholders of status of inventory with a customer
      centric approach.
    • Work with QC/QA, Regulatory, Legal, and EH&S to ensure all compliant measures are
      taken into account for outgoing products.

KEY REQUIREMENTS

  • Candidates should have a bachelor’s degree in biology, biochemistry, chemistry, material science or related discipline.
  • Comfortable working independently as well as in team settings.
  • Demonstrated ability to follow detailed protocols.
  • Demonstrated ability to problem-solve in a fast-paced environment.
  • Detail oriented and capable of managing multiple priorities while meeting expected deadlines.
  • Highly motivated and possessing an excellent work ethic.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Suite of products and Google platform.
  • Demonstrated creative problem solving and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to function effectively in a fast paced, mission-oriented environment, with multiple competing priorities.
  • Experience with chemicals and associated PPE in a lab or manufacturing setting preferred.
  • Forklift experience preferred.
  • Ability to lift 50lbs.

Base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay for this role starts at $55,000 and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
