Research Scientist

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated scientist to join our team. The successful candidate will contribute to our cutting-edge research projects focused on skin microbiome, mucosal immunology and topical drug delivery platforms. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic and collaborative environment at the forefront of scientific innovation.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Design and execute experiments utilizing gene editing techniques such as CRISPR/Cas9
  • Propose and prioritize steps for bacterial strain construction, and systematically trouble-shoot technical hurdles
  • Conduct experiments using reconstituted human epithelium (RHE) and animal ex vivo skin models
  • Characterize in vitro and in vivo properties of engineered bacterial strains in human skin models
  • Conduct immunological and biochemical assays
  • Record and present data in well-organized written and oral formats.
  • Contribute to study reports and draft manuscripts
  • Work effectively in a highly collaborative team environment

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • A background in molecular biology or cell biology and experience in skin physiology and immunology
  • Bacterial strain engineering, protein expression and secretion and scale up of protein production
  • Familiarity with handling BSL2 bacteria, mammalian cell culture, and sterile technique.
  • Experience in the development and performance of biochemical and mammalian/bacterial cell-based assays
  • The ability to design, troubleshoot, validate assays, and critically analyze assay data.
  • Experience in standard biology techniques such as Western blots, ELISAs, PCR, qPCR
  • Familiarity in whole genome sequencing analysis and bioinformatics tool
  • PhD or MS + 5 years experience in pharmaceutical research; degree focus in immunology, molecular biology, or cell biology
  • Prior experience in skin immunology and/or skin physiology are highly desired. Experience working with skin commensal bacteria is a plus
