About Abridge
Abridge was founded in 2018 with the mission of powering deeper understanding in healthcare. Our AI-powered platform was purpose-built for medical conversations, improving clinical documentation efficiencies while enabling clinicians to focus on what matters most—their patients.
Our enterprise-grade technology transforms patient-clinician conversations into structured clinical notes in real-time, with deep EMR integrations. Powered by Linked Evidence and our purpose-built, auditable AI, we are the only company that maps AI-generated summaries to ground truth, helping providers quickly trust and verify the output. As pioneers in generative AI for healthcare, we are setting the industry standards for the responsible deployment of AI across health systems.
We are a growing team of practicing MDs, AI scientists, PhDs, creatives, technologists, and engineers working together to empower people and make care make more sense. We have offices located in the Mission District in San Francisco, the SoHo neighborhood of New York, and East Liberty in Pittsburgh.
The Role
As a Product Designer at Abridge, you won’t just be designing software. You’ll be redesigning the future of healthcare delivery. You’ll create experiences that give clinicians back time, reduce cognitive load, and enable doctors to give their patients undivided attention again.
Healthcare is broken in ways most people don’t see. Clinicians spend much of their time on administrative tasks, contributing to unprecedented burnout and compromised patient care. The current state of clinical documentation forces doctors to choose between looking at their patients and looking at their computers.
We’re hiring product designers with a range of experience, strengths, and areas of expertise. Your scope will reflect what you bring to the team, but every designer at Abridge is expected to take meaningful ownership, navigate ambiguity, and help raise the quality of our products and practice.
This role is for someone who dreams big and can reimagine experiences. You’ll work on problems that have never been solved before, in an industry where design decisions directly affect human lives and well-being.
What You’ll Do
As a Product Designer, you’ll shape the product experience at Abridge, setting a high bar for taste, clarity, and strategic thinking across initiatives that directly impact clinicians, patients, and care teams.
You’ll collaborate deeply with cross-functional partners, immerse yourself in the complexity of clinical workflows, and bring structure and empathy to ambiguous problems. Whether you’re exploring new ideas or refining existing experiences, you’ll advocate for design excellence throughout the product lifecycle.
Simplify the Complex: Tackle challenging and ambiguous design and customer problems, transforming complex clinical workflows and AI capabilities into intuitive, thoughtful, and delightful experiences.
Elevate Our Craft and Standards: Push the boundaries of visual and interaction design. Bring a strong command of design principles, motion, and prototyping; contribute to our evolving design standards; and ensure every detail and interaction is carefully considered.
Own End-to-End Design Execution: Design for today’s needs and tomorrow’s challenges, translating early ideas into clear product direction, high-fidelity designs, prototypes, and user flows. No task is too small or too large when it contributes to building an exceptional product.
Champion User-Centered Design: Advocate passionately for the clinicians and care teams who rely on our product every day. Engage in user research, synthesize insights, and ground design decisions in a deep understanding of users’ needs and pain points.
Lead Through Collaboration: Build strong partnerships across design, product, engineering, research, and other disciplines. Communicate clearly, invite feedback, and help teams make thoughtful decisions that balance user needs, business goals, and technical realities.
What You’ll Bring
5+ years of experience shipping impactful digital products, ideally within complex domains. Experience with AI-powered products is a plus.
A strong track record of taking meaningful design initiatives from concept through launch and demonstrating an impact on users and the business.
The ability to bring clarity and momentum to ambiguous problems, adapting your approach and level of ownership to the needs of the work.
A high craft bar that you consistently meet and help others elevate. You care deeply about the details while maintaining sight of the larger product experience.
Exceptional communication, presentation, and storytelling skills, with the ability to articulate design rationale and influence partners across functions.
A highly collaborative spirit and low ego, along with a genuine desire to learn, teach, give and receive feedback, and grow with a fast-paced, high-performing team.
