About Abridge
Abridge was founded in 2018 with the mission of powering deeper understanding in healthcare. Our AI-powered platform was purpose-built for medical conversations, improving clinical documentation efficiencies while enabling clinicians to focus on what matters most—their patients.
Our enterprise-grade technology transforms patient-clinician conversations into structured clinical notes in real-time, with deep EMR integrations. Powered by Linked Evidence and our purpose-built, auditable AI, we are the only company that maps AI-generated summaries to ground truth, helping providers quickly trust and verify the output. As pioneers in generative AI for healthcare, we are setting the industry standards for the responsible deployment of AI across health systems.
We are a growing team of practicing MDs, AI scientists, PhDs, creatives, technologists, and engineers working together to empower people and make care make more sense. We have offices located in the Mission District in San Francisco, the SoHo neighborhood of New York, and East Liberty in Pittsburgh.
The Role
Abridge is looking for a detail-oriented, compliance-savvy, and empathetic Senior People Operations Generalist to join our People team. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in the details, brings sharp expertise in employment law and regulatory requirements, and can deftly balance the administration of complex processes with people-first communication.
As our Senior People Operations Generalist, you’ll take point on critical operational areas including immigration, compliance reporting, benefits administration, and leave management. You’ll partner closely with the Head of People Operations and others across the People team to ensure we’re not just buttoned up — we’re ahead of the curve.
This is a high-impact, foundational role for a trusted operator who wants to help build scalable, human-centered processes in a fast-moving startup environment.
What You’ll Do
Own immigration processes end-to-end for employees and candidates, including visa applications, renewals, audits, and partnership with legal counsel.
Manage compliance programs, including audits, harassment prevention training, and other regulatory mandates.
Lead compliance reporting requirements such as EEO-1, VETS-4212, and state-specific filings, ensuring timely and accurate submissions.
Administer employee benefits and leaves, including health and wellness programs, paid and unpaid leaves (e.g., FMLA, ADA, parental), and benefits enrollments and renewals.
Partner on policy development and updates for our multi-state employee base, ensuring clarity, compliance, and alignment with our culture.
Maintain internal documentation (policies, calendars, audit trails) and build scalable processes that can flex with our team’s growth.
Support audits and respond to regulatory inquiries with thorough, organized documentation and process transparency.
Collaborate cross-functionally with Payroll, Legal, Finance, and IT to deliver seamless employee experiences.
What You’ll Bring
5+ years of experience in People Operations or HR roles with hands-on responsibility in immigration, compliance, and benefits.
Deep working knowledge of US immigration processes (H-1B, TN, O-1, Green Card, etc.) and experience coordinating with outside counsel.
Strong understanding of federal and multi-state compliance requirements, including leave laws, wage and hour rules, and training mandates.
Prior experience administering benefits and leave programs (including short- and long-term disability, FMLA, and local ordinances).
Experience owning compliance reporting processes and preparing data for audits or external filing.
Deep expertise in Rippling — not just as a user, but a power operator. You’ve built workflows, maintained data integrity, and know how to get the most out of the platform to support efficient, compliant operations. Strong familiarity with documentation tools and reporting dashboards.
Track record of writing and maintaining employee policies and handbooks across multiple states.
High attention to detail and ability to independently prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills — you know how to make legal and operational information accessible to employees.
Bonus Points If…
Experience working in a startup or high-growth environment.
Familiarity with HR systems and the ability to troubleshoot and configure workflows.
A collaborative spirit and a passion for building people processes that are efficient, compliant, and human.
A bias for action and comfort with ambiguity—we're building as we go.
This role is a hybrid position in our San Francisco office (Tues, Weds, Thurs in office)
